Workshop on Stationary Sets and Algebra 2024

The workshop will focus on topics in algebra that already have, or are likely to have, connections with set theory, especially those involving the nonstationary ideal and set-theoretic elementary submodel techniques. Recent examples of interactions of this kind include:

  • Approximation theory (e.g., precovering & deconstructible classes in abelian categories, complete cotorsion pairs, model categories, weak factorization systems, relative homological algebra)
  • Algebraic constructions associated with the nonstationary ideal (e.g., nonstationary support products of abelian groups). 

The workshop will be a relatively informal mix of tutorials, discussion, and Q&A sessions. Tutorials will be given by these speakers (see this link for abstracts):

Priority will be given to students and postdocs who do not hold federal research grants.
